Welcome to the world little Joshua !
Our newest grand, Joshua, arrived this week. He is beautiful. It was a scary delivery as his heart rate was dropping during the last stage of labor and his grandfather, Jim , collapsed just before he was born and was rushed out to the ER. All is well, just overwhelmed, underfed, sleep deprived and overworking himself soooooooooo he is on restrictions !!!! Gave us a scare but all is well now and all are home and enjoying family time. Thank you for all the calls, visits, gifts and wishes.
Olivia Marie
Olivia was born on July 11th. She is healthy and beautiful and we praise God bringing her safely into the world. Living in Florida keeps us from all the snuggles so far but I am hoping to visit her soon and catch up on all the kisses.

Truly an Empty Nest !
With Bo settling into Tampa and Amy moving to the farm and Kelly and her family growing and living a few miles away and now my cadets leaving for summer and my grandson leaving my care to go back to his stay at home mom... I am truly moving into the empty nest stage of life. While I will miss all of them and would bring them all back here if I could.... I do have a million plans for all my free time. I think I am excited about all my projects but I am facing the fact that I cannot use any of my motherhood duties as an excuse for not getting stuff done. Once June hits, I am going to have 24 hours a day to use as I please ...so watch out ... I am going to become painter, writer, interior designer, crafter , traveler , grandmother , extraordinaire... and most of all will have time to dote on a one of a kind husband who has generously and quietly sat on the back burner to all this crazy moving, wedding planning, and full time grandmothering this year.
My summer project begins with a Cadet porch pot that is overdue for a friend who purchased it at an auction a year ago. After that, I am headed to the beach house to start some serious decorating and updating .. hopefully I can use the summer to get the old house rentable. So many friends have asked us if we rent. I hope to get it rentable and get a friends and family rent brochure together by end of summer. While I do not want to rent to strangers, the renting of the house to close friends can help them by allowing a cheaper rent than they could get anywhere else ...thereby sharing our blessing... and can add to my funds to improve the place little by little to make it more enjoyable for everyone.
I do not see an end to that project so while that is going on... I will also be finishing some much needed painting and decor in our Ashebourough house. It is a lot of upkeep but a great place for our family to gather and enjoy life.
This summer, our family will grow as Kelly and Tom welcome Joshua James Reser in August ... I am really looking forward to a newborn. I just love that stage and while it is hard to believe I can love someone as much as I love the others.. I am sure that he will carve out his own little place in this world and be another unique , precious , and wonderful love in my life.
I hope the coming year will give us opportunities to spend time with lots of friends for surely friends and family determine the quality of life that we have... add that to good health and a vital and loving relationship with the Savior and it does not get any better... well maybe if I could lose 50 pounds... that would be the icing on the cake... and since my excuses for "no time to plan meals and exercise" are gone in a few weeks... maybe I will find my way to do just that......

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOO PASSED THE BAR !
A long road to success ! Bo graduated from Stetson law in December and will be sworn in as an attorney this month in Tampa.
My Three Wonderful kids
Three great blessings.......and also I have two wonderful sons-in-law ( not pictured here but below)
THE HAPPY COUPLE !
Amy and Peter are so perfect for each other. We are expecting them to have a long happy life together .
Our New House
We moved in last summer and are so excited to start all the painting and decorating and making a place for our family to come together ! What a blessing ! As you can see in the photo, lightening struck last week and took a tree out but we will get that trunk and stump out this week and find a new tree to replace it. There is a man cave, a wonderful screened back porch and a four car garage with kitchen and bath... this is going to be a long project to get it all customized to us ! We have boxes in every room and a garage filled with unpacked boxes.... Anyone like to paint? UPDATE... still unpacking and painting but feels like home....downstairs is close to finished... then we will get busy in the bedrooms.
The Charleston room... off limits to the guys...
just ordered a new rug for this room and am looking for the perfect tea buffet for the far wall instead of the small cabinet you see here
our breakfast room
still procrastinating on fabric for the window treatments but love the wall color
Family Room
just picked a nice wall color for the remaining 3 walls that you see as white here... hope to get it done this week
Sutton with Our Genny
The cadets love having a little mascot around...even when she chews up their stuff !
MEET "GENNY"
Meet Genny ( The General's Daughter) Jim's new puppy. We won't get her until Jan. 22nd... she is just 4 weeks old now. "Genny will guard the "Man Cave" which has been renamed... The Dawg House. She is a puppy from a litter sired by the mascot at the Citadel, "General".
We Finally have our Genny !
Jim and Genny with breeder, Tommy Leitner, classmate of Jim's at the Citadel, 1974 grads. Tommy's dog was the mother of Genny. Her dad is the Citadel mascot, General. We met Tommy in Columbia to pick Genny up and bring her home.
A TOAST TO THE HAPPY COUPLE !
Peter asked Amy to marry him last month and the wedding is being planned for the spring. We are all so happy !Click on the photo above to be routed to the wedding site.
The Ring is beautiful ! Some serious BLING !
We will welcome our wonderful Peter and his son ,Britton to our family with JOY !
Amy and Peter share a kiss at one of the showers !
People have been so generous and showered Peter and Amy with wonderful gifts of love. Click on the photo to be routed to the wedding website
We loved this song...
Of course, we changed the words to "there are two sisters and a brother"... it remains to be seen if the words will work for the Resers. We won't know until about 6 weeks from now if we have a sister or a brother for Caleb and Sophia. We loved singing this song and still break out in it on occasion....wellllllll... Bo never sings.
The Reser Family will now have 5 people in their Family!
August will bring the birth of another grandchild for Jim and me. Hopefully, they will continue the Sesame Song tradition in their home.
Our Christmas Announcement from Kelly and Tom is growing !!!!
Here is the new grandchild, due in August. We don't know if the text should be pink or blue so thus a split color for now.
Kelly has been very sick with this one and is just now starting to feel a little better.
Grandchildren are the best ...we are happy to add to the number.
We also found out that 2 of Jim's nieces are expecting about the same time and that my niece Holly and her husband, Robby are expecting within weeks of Kelly. Our family just continues to grow. We are blessed.

A DOG???? REALLY????
Those of you who know me, know that I never wanted a dog...however, Jim does so big surprise for him.... Genny. We were looking for a bulldog for Bo, which we found but in the search we were offered a puppy from the Citadel line of dogs and Jim is excited to find that the puppy's mom was owned by a Citadel classmate, Tommy Leitner. How could we resist?
Jan.22nd we will be the proud parents of our Genny. Her name is going to be " The General's daughter" Genny for short.
Jim is already brainstorming... one corner of the man cave (The Dawg House)is waiting for her .... he is going to build her a barracks type dog house there with the whole quad look. Now he is trying to figure out how to rig the man cave door to play " Who let the dogs out" when you open it. Men are just DOG people I guess.
I know Caleb will love having her so that is a plus for me.
Hopefully, I will fall in love with her and become a dog person.
Miracles happen !
I have to admit, I am a little bit excited myself.

Bo's new puppy...Penny
"Penny" joined Bo in Florida on Dec. 30th.... a graduation gift from his dad and me. SOOOOOOOO cute !!!! Now he has a study buddy.
Bo is in love...

28 Days to "I do"
Just 28 days left until the wedding. What will we do without our Amy around every day???? No jammie time at night...no one to watch my chic shows with anymore. Empty nest will really set in. Our baby girl, getting married.
We are so excited to see all of our friends and family come in for the wedding. At last count we have about 260 people who are gathering to witness the event and dance the night away celebrating with Peter and Amy.
Just after the wedding, school will end and my 4 days a week with Caleb will also come to an end as Kelly will be an at home mom again. I am going suffer empty nest big time . I do look forward to having time to do all the things that have been on the back burner this year. Jim and I are going to try to get to Italy to see our wonderful Moore family and do a little touring. We also have big plans to add a deck to the beach house and redo the bathroom and kitchen out there. Our Ashborough house is midstream sooooo lots more paint and fabric there and we want to tiled the kitchen and bath in the garage so we have a lot to keep us busy. I am hoping to get the boat out a couple of days a week. Life is beautiful ! We are so blessed to be back in Charleston with all our loved ones and family. Charleston itself has so much to offer.
We are looking forward to a new pastor at our church and praying for growth and excitement about God's work. It does not look like we will be resting any time soon.
I will get to sleep in more though...with the bulldog potty trained and the grandson back home with mom and Amy at the farm and Bo out of school and living in Tampa... I can hear the alarm.........I mean cannot hear it !

Men Have it so Easy !
okay, all you men out there need to read this so you have some idea of what your wives are facing. I got up at 7:30 , tried to sleep in today since I could but no!!! The man who promised to do puppy patrol if we got a puppy did not get up to let the dog out at 4 so.... now I have cleaned the crate , washed 3 loads of clothes and puppy bedding and towels fom bathing her.... made coffee, cleaned the bathroom that was literally soaked from Jims attempt at bathing her...( after he felt guilty).. After I gave her a real bath...I have put all the clean dishes away and loaded the dishwasher...from dishes I did not use....put out the trash,, took a quick shower and shampoo ... and now when Caleb arrives at 10 ... I will load up the kid and the dog, head out to the vet for booster shots, bring the puppy home... entertain the grandson for a few hours while I continue the laundry and prepare a grocery list... then at 3:30 when Caleb leaves, i will finish folding and putting away the laundry, get some groceries , do some wedding details, fix some dinner and clean up from that and spend my evening doing all the regular housework that did not get done this morning.... All of the morning stuff done with no kid in the picture ( some of you have many) !! So for all of you who left the house this morning, in clean clothes that you ( just found in your drawer) odd, took a shower in a clean bathroom with clean towels, kissed your cute litte (self maintained) kids, enjoyed your jobs at a desk or car ( alone, listening to your favorite CD), chatted with co-workers and had lunch out...OMG you are amazing !

ON WITH THE WEDDING PLANS
So now that the holidays are over and Bo's graduation and new puppy are old news... WE are on to the wedding plans. Before Christmas we felt we had plenty of time to pull it all together but now with only 84 days until the wedding...we are feeling the crunch....
The invitations are sitting on the dining table waiting to be addressed and as a constant reminder that the time is near.
Saturday , Amy and I set out on a mission to find the wedding dress. It did not take us long to find out that the perfect wedding dress consultant was invaluable in finding the perfect dress.
De Borah at De Borah's Bridal is that Saint for us. She was wonderful. She listened to Amy's vision and brought in 4 dresses that were really beautiful on Amy. We narrowed it to 2 after about an hour and then called in the troops for votes. Aunt Cindy and Kelsy, Kelly and Sophia and of course the male vote, Caleb. Caleb exclaimed how much he loved the dress she settled on and told her she was beautiful. That was the sealing vote. It is stunning. Now the big issues are taken care of and we are on to find the perfect cake baker and florist. Internet orders have been flying each night as we find items we need to make this the perfect wedding for Peter and Amy.
Peter has been wonderful and supportive and has asked Amy to marry him every day since the engagement. Now if God grants beautiful weather for April 11th...it will be the icing on the cake.
( providing we find a baker) . If you know a baker you would recommend, email me.
We are just a week or so away from bringing our little bulldog, Genny home. She will come to us when she is 6 weeks old. Bo is loving having his little Penny with him . Jim is already making big plans for our little canine. It remains to be seen how much "fun" this will really be.
Have to go for now so I can snag the tv that has the box and watch my tape of "The Bachelor" .
Tomorrow night American Idol begins again which means Amy and Kelly and I can give our critical spirits a work out. ( working on that)
In June, the graduation will be done, the bar will be done, the wedding will be done and Kelly will be home so I won't have my little buddy every day.... WHAT WILL I DO????? I guess I will just have to retreat to the beach for a long summer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woooooooohooooooooooooo
That is where you will find me so get your chair and sunscreen and come have a cool ice tea with a little umbrella and watch the waves with me.

Welcome "Penny" to our family !!!!
Christmas was wonderful. We had many gatherings of family and friends and all the trimmings.
On Dec. 20th, Bo graduated from Stetson Law College and we all had a wonderful time celebrating with his friends and their families in Florida. We rented a wonderful house there on the water and had a little buffet for everyone after the graduation. Now he is enrolled in a bar study course and will take the bar in late February. Pictured above, "Penny" his new puppy .. she is our graduation gift to Bo. He has wanted a bulldog for many years but was never really in a place to have one . Now with graduation over, he will enjoy having a study buddy and little friend to move on his journey with him. She is only 8 weeks old !!! It took us over a month of constantly searching the internet and many phone calls....lots of scams ...to find her. Is she the cutest little thing??????

Thanks Scott and Cindy
Again this year, my sister, Cindy and her husband, Scott hosted Thanksgiving. Their hospitality is overwhelming as 30 to 40 people gather there each year to give thanks to the Lord for all the bounty of life and to fellowship with each other. The feast is always a spread of southern dishes, everyone brings their signature dish. My contribution each year is a picnic shoulder ham and my broccoli salad. The salad is a mixture of bacon, broccoli ( raw), red onion, pecans, cheese, and golden raisins. My son, son-in-law and my nephew , Robby will not let me get away with a new dish. Usually, I make a plum cake although this year, I did not. I will save that for Christmas dinner. It was a beautiful day , crisp air and sunshine. We were blessed to have all of our children with us there this year. Bo was home from Florida, Kelly and Tom with the two children came and stayed until they had to move on to the other grandma. Peter and Amy joined us and all of Cindy's kids were there as well. My 83 year old aunt came for the first time in decades to be with us and my mother and her husband were there . Several other friends from church and our extended family, the Vatters were able to join us as their children were all out of town.
We spent the rest of the weekend eating turkey sandwiches and Christmas shopping ...putting our box together for our loved ones in Italy. In the evenings we just hung out together at the house. Now , I will start packing away all the fall decor and replacing it with my treasured Christmas decorations. Hopefully, by the weekend, the house will take on a Christmas flavor. Tonight it smells like gingerbread because I did some early baking for Bo to take back to Florida tomorrow.
The rest of the month will be dotted with Bo's graduation, family gatherings, Sophia's 8th birthday, my brother-in-law Scott turning the big 5-0 and Bo's 28th birthday , an office party, the JOY party here at the house and of course, Christmas Eve buffet and Christmas Day at Cindy's house. We are blessed and though all of the family imperfections are here ...we won't focus on them but rather on the blessings we have through Jesus, the health we enjoy, the liberty we are afforded in our great country and the blessing of living in my beautiful city, Charleston. We will look past all of our failures and celebrate our victories knowing that God is a redeemer and our closest advocate and friend . He will be the focus of our holidays, his birth and his Lordship over our lives. We pray that you and yours will be blessed with His presence and that you will make wonderful memories in the next few weeks for all of your loved ones.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Roberts family.

Okay so I am a color person !!!
I want to love the shabby chic and all the cream and white but every time I get the chance to throw some color in the mix, I do it. Finally, one room in the new house is painted. The Charleston room is now" Baked Cinnamon". I love it. As I stand in the room now, I feel warm and cozy. Granted the room looks a little smaller but it is the cozy feeling I love and want in all my rooms so now I have begun a rampage of paint buying. Today, hopefully, we will get the paint for the dining room. I have decided on a rich shade of gold because I love the glow that color gets in candlelight and I hope to fill that room with friends and candlelight as soon as I can. I will post some picts soon. Of course, as my friend Tiffannie can attest.... it is always about 2 weeks before the holidays that I decide to do major changes to the house !!!!! Why do we do that????? Haven't we learned yet.... January, February and March ...there is nothing going on and that is the time to do this stuff but inevitably I find myself stapling, sewing and painting in November and December... if you are ever here on a holiday, you may smell fresh paint.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and get your sleep. I read that during sleep our bodies create an acid that flows into the muscles and makes them tender and pliable.... making it hard to get a pulled muscle. Now I know why I tend to have a pulled out back or neck during the holidays. Sleep is the secret!!!!
